So latest developments…because I know you’re just dying to know! About two months ago I got news that my ex was moving back to be closer to the kids. Remember Never a Dull Moment…? Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I had the car side conversation where I didn’t use my filter for the first time in so long…Second Guessing…
Well I think he took my words to heart. He ‘supposedly’ broke up with the paramour. Or at least that’s what he told the kids. Or rather he told the kids they broke up because of them…so he could ‘rebuild’ his relationships with them. It made the girls feel guilty. They immediately took that to mean they were the reason he had to break up with his girlfriend. And even if they were…YOU DON’T LAY THAT AT THE FEET OF YOUR CHILDREN!!!
So that was the story two weekends ago when he had them…
…so now a few days ago…
He was on the phone with my youngest, who automatically puts him on speaker phone to talk (I know, annoying, right) and I’m standing right there because she’s in the kitchen. When out of the background on his end of the line comes the bark of a dog. Her dog. And my youngest KNOWS this…because she IMMEDIATELY asks, “are you at ___’s house?”
I can just picture it…him sneaking away to a quiet tucked away place to try and make a phone call to his unsuspecting children to say ‘hello’ and ‘goodnight’…but something about the sneaky way he goes off alerts the little watchdogs of the house…they see him and he is behaving so sneaky, they just HAVE to bark at him – even though they know him and accept him normally!
His response is so casual, as though he didn’t just blame the demise of this relationship on them a mere week and a half prior. “Yeah. I came over to visit her tonight.” and as slick as that he was off onto another subject.
It’s his weekend again. Yesterday they went bowling. With her and her girls. I guess after a three year relationship that began in adultery, created a divorce and bad blood between a father and his kids, and a short stint of living together you can’t just “break-up”, you have to remain friends. Because THAT seems normal, right?
Please someone, tell me it’s not just me, but that my ex is a crazy, self-absorbed idiot!
You’re not crazy. No one but a jackass would blame their children for the break-up of a relationship. Jerk.
Thanks so much for the reassurance! 🙂 Sometimes it just takes some reinforcement of truth.
Love your blog, how about you check my blog out too:-) Hope you can enjoy it. Happy blogging!
Thanks for the compliment! 🙂 Following you now…
Self absorbed idiot is too nice. Ever wonder what it would be like to just live a non dramatic life? How nice that would be? Yeah, me too.
Yeah…non dramatic life? What is that? I don’t know that I would even recognize that if it bit me on the a$$. Thanks for responding and reading. 🙂
Haha, thing is it WOULDN’T bite you…it would just kinda slowly occur until…wait…what is this…no turmoil, no trauma., just normalcy.
